Teenage skin
Teenage skin is often imbalanced because of hormonal fluctuations. Sebum production is amped up, often leading to clogged pores and inflammation. Lifestyle factors should also be considered when tailoring a routine for young skin: heavy perspiration caused by physical activity, prolonged UV exposure and improper use (or removal) of makeup should be considered when addressing skin irregularities. Young skin needs supportive skincare regimen: gentle cleanser, water-based moisturizer and UV protection if exposed to the harmful UV rays. Keratolytics such as salicylic acid and retinoids may be introduced if comedones are present alongside seborrhea (oily skin).
