A basic routine for any skin type should include cleansing, moisturizing and a product with sun protection factor (SPF) regardless of skin type. In the morning, it is necessary to gently clean the skin and protect it from the negative effects of UV radiation with a product that provides a wide spectrum of protection (UVA + UVB). In the evening care, it is desirable to thoroughly but gently remove SPF, make-up, sebum and impurities accumulated during the day by double cleansing, then nourish and regenerate the skin with a product that will keep the skin's hydrolipidic barrier healthy and balanced with a pleasant feeling on the skin. Each treatment product with active ingredients is an addition to the basic routine and can work on a specific problem, but it is important to know how to choose it and use it correctly.
What do you need?
To begin with, think carefully about your skin and the products you use. Do you feel that your skin lacks moisture with occasional tightening? The additional layer of hydration can easily be replaced with a moisturizing tonic or moisturizers rich in serum, which can be applied both in the morning and in the evening care before the cream. If you have certain irregularities on the skin such as texture, acne, comedones, hyperpigmentation or treatment spots, you can correct them by choosing the appropriate active ingredients, i.e. a treatment or antioxidant product or a chemical exfoliant that removes dead cells from the surface of the skin. However, be careful when choosing the ideal new product because a certain product may be perfect, just not perfect for you. It is important that you know how to correctly assess your skin type, condition and problems , and that you use the appropriate product for that.
Active ingredients
Moisturizing products are easy to fit into any routine, but when introducing treatment products, guidelines for adequate use are often needed, which will ultimately contribute to the changes you want.
As a general rule, we advise introducing only one new product with active ingredients. Namely, imagine a situation in which you try two new serums at the same time, after which the skin does not react positively. You may experience irritation or develop new pimples. Unfortunately, you will have to exclude both products from your routine and only start testing them separately when your skin has calmed down, which would save you time, but also money and frustration at the beginning.
Products that contain powerful potent ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide, bakuchiol, acids and retinoids work to change the texture and improve the function of the skin, so the skin needs to be given time to adapt. Once a day, preferably in the evening, start using a new product, in such a way that you initially apply it with a gap of a couple of days. If after a few uses there are no unwanted reactions, you can freely increase the frequency of application. As for the order of use, treatment products most often come in the form of tonics and serums, so they are applied after cleansing and before moisturizing.
It is advisable to introduce any new product with active ingredients slowly and alternately with the one you already have in your routine. In this way, you will be able to more easily assess whether your skin tolerates the combination of several active ingredients and monitor the skin's reaction.
Testing the product on sensitive skin
If your skin is sensitive, it is a good precaution to do a test on a small area of skin before the first real use. Conservatively apply the selected product to clean skin and monitor the reaction. We know that almost no one does this, but listen to us, because this way you will prevent potential negative skin reactions in the form of irritation and allergies to which sensitive skin is very prone.
In case you have an event of great importance like a wedding, it would be ideal to avoid any experimentation and introduction of new products and to stick to products that have been proven to work perfectly for us.
Samples are a great way to test a product before buying, but it's important to consider that their purpose is to test the texture and rule out potential skin irritation. Visible, more concrete results require patience and consistency in use, so we advise you to wait at least three weeks for a visible change.
Every skin is different and the product that your friend can't live without may delight you too, but is it a good choice? So step by step; the most important thing is to assess what the skin is like, what it needs and what doesn't suit it, and choose cosmetics accordingly. By gradually introducing a new product, it will be easier for you to evaluate its effect and you will give the skin enough time to adapt to the new formulation.
