Hybrid has a two-fold function: protecting against UV rays while at the same time having an anti-inflammatory and decongestive effect thanks to its broad spectrum UV radiation protection (SPF 30) and the addition of 2% salicylic acid.
As its name suggests, Hybrid is a hybrid product which combines the role of UV protection with anti-inflammatory and decongestive action, thanks to broad spectrum UV radiation protection (SPF 30) and the addition of 2% salicylic acid. It is intended for problematic skin prone to imperfections such as acne and comedones.
Hybrid has an ultra-light texture that doesn’t leave any white residue on the skin nor does it feel heavy or greasy. This velvety fluid protects against the negative effects of the sun by using specific photo stable (non-degradable) organic filters that protect from radiation belonging to the UVA, UVB, infrared (also emitted by electronic devices) and visible light spectrums. Just as our first SPF product Solar I, Hybrid is formulated without filters that have been proven to have a disruptive effect on hormone levels. Five newest-generation filters used in Hybrid and Solar I work in synergy to absorb, disperse and reflect UV rays. These are:
- Tinosorb S: UVA and UVB filter, extremely effective even in low concentrations which enables excellent dermatological tolerance of the product
- Tinosorb M: UVA and UVB filter with excellent photo stability which at the same time acts as a physical filter or micro pigment (reflects and disperses) and absorbs UV rays; it also protects within the spectrum of visible light radiation
- Uvinul A Plus granular: the only photo stable organic UVA-I filter that covers the segment of long wave radiation while at the same time preventing the creation of free radicals in the skin which lead to premature photo aging
- Uvinul T150: UVB filter with the highest rate of absorption of UV rays among available UVB filters, excellent at adhering to keratin in the skin which makes it waterproof
- Eusolex OS: acts as a complementary UVB filter, stabilises emulsions and has an anti-bacterial effect
At the same time, thanks to 2% salicylic acid, Hybrid has an intense anti-inflammatory effect and releases the contents of clogged pores, at the same time reducing the possibility of new inflammatory processes developing. Salicylic acid in this product is found in the maximum concentration but it is formulated using a special prolonged release technology. Due to this fact it is excellently tolerated even by sensitive skin which has difficulty accepting products in a low pH medium (such as classic exfoliators). Since it is soluble in oils, salicylic acid easily penetrates into the skin’s deeper layers and concentrates in the secretion glands where it exfoliates leftover “plugs” of dead cells and sebum, while at the same time evening out skin tone and having an intense calming effect.
In addition to salicylic acid, Hybrid also contains the preferred amino acid for regeneration of sensitive and dehydrated skin, ectoine (2%). In vivo tests have demonstrated the effects of ectoine as an extraordinary humectant which prevents UV induced skin damage at the cellular level, at the same time improving the skin’s elasticity, sturdiness and tonus and strengthening its barrier function. Panthenol, green tea and betaine further soothe and calm inflamed skin.
Hybrid is recommended for normal, combination and oily skin prone to imperfections. During UV radiation exposure it is recommended to use a UV protection product such as Hybrid, especially if using evening exfoliators such as Clarion and Lumion. Since Hybrid also has an exfoliating effect, it is recommended to adapt the frequency of use of the evening exfoliator depending on individual tolerance.
If used in combination with other products, keep in mind that any SPF product always comes as the last step in the skin care routine in order to avoid moving the product around the skin and so reducing the required photo protection. The product is formulated without the addition of parabens, perfumes, alcohols, synthetic dyes and other irritants and is packaged in an opaque airless container.

My skin is somewhat dry, but I would still like to use an SPF with salicylic acid (BHA) after proper hydration. I am wondering if BHA will work if it is layered on top of other products?
Yes, it will. The reason for that is the oil-solubility of salicylic acid. It can literally penetrate through lipid-rich layers and concentrate in the pores where it works as an exfoliant, unclogging leftover dead skin and sebum. However, seeing as BHA can be a little drying, we would recommend Solar I instead of Hybrid for dry skin type.
What are key differences between Hybrid and Solar I? How do I choose the right product for me?
Both products are identical in their photo-protective and sensorial characteristics (light texture, fast absorption, spreadable). Solar I is a little more rich in anti-oxidative components that are useful in anti-aging, whereas Hybrid has more anti-inflammatory components and is therefore more appropriate for oily & acne-prone skin.
Won’t BHA make my skin more sensitive to the sun?
Acids like glycolic and lactic (AHA) indeed do make the skin more sun-sensitive, but salicylic acid (BHA) works a little differently. Instead of ‘swiping’ surface keratinocytes which leave the skin more sensitive and exposed to the sun (like AHAs), BHA tends to function in deeper layers of the skin and is even found to have photo-protective properties. Combined with broad-spectrum SPF30, it is safe to use during daytime with no concern for increased sensitivity to the sun.
Sources on photo-protective role of BHA:
Both Hybrid and Solar I contain dimethicone and I really dislike silicones because they clog my pores.
Both SPF fluids are 100% non-comedogenic and recommended in problematic skin. Dimethicone is indeed present in both formulas, but it is the low-molecular weight / short-chain dimethicone variety which is completely non-reactive and non-comedogenic. It is a great spreading agent which makes the formula light and comfortable on the skin.
Who should avoid this product?
If you are allergic to salicylic acid (which is an acetylsalicylic acid derivative), we advise you to choose Solar I instead of Hybrid. Equally, pregnant women may also want to choose Solar I instead of Hybrid because of potential transdermal absorption of salicylic acid
