Zinc is a mineral which in this form regulates sebum production, reduces redness and irritation and so helps in treating skin with acne. Recent research indicates the fantastic role of zinc in preventing premature aging of the skin, as well as in restricting the development of pathogenic microorganisms on the skin (source: Y. Large doses of zinc can sometimes be drying, but zinc PCA (or zinc l-pyrrolidone carboxylate) is an excellent skin moisturiser and does not obstruct the normal function of the dermal barrier.
